One-of-a-kind pressed flower jewelry made with foraged flowers & sustainable materials

About The Founder & Her Creative Process

black blue and yellow textile

Over the years, I have developed quality pressed flower jewelry from foraged flora and fauna, blending sustainability into one-of-a-kind works of botanical fashion. While in nature, I forage flowers and press them between the pages of heavy books. I am an eco-conscious artisan, as I reclaim discarded beads and broken jewelry in an effort to reduce waste and care for the planet. For long lasting wear, I use steel beading wire for extra durability and test each piece before purchase to ensure it lasts a lifetime. Each piece is hand-poured with resin, crafted with love, and wire-wrapped to capture nature in lasting form.

My name is Dr. Deborah Fessenden and I am the founder of Apples & Oranges Jewelry and Apothecary. I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology with a focus in immigration and refugee studies. I am highly involved in the nonprofit sector and currently serve as an Advocate for BeKinder Coffee in Dallas, TX where we provide essential life skills to refugees. Through my work, art, & research, I spread awareness about immigration and encourage compassion, love, and understanding for marginalized groups. I support the lives of Black and Brown people in the U.S. and abroad. Intolerance will not be tolerated! 🌈 Check out "Jewelry for a Cause" ~ all proceeds will be donated!
